Description
Job Description IKEA is on a transformation journey with the aim of combining our home furnishing knowledge with digital capabilities. The focus in our digitalization of product content is to enable effective planning, creation and distribution of impactful content across all channels and markets, all while enabling collaboration with partners and external parties across the globe. To enable our transformation, we’re on the lookout for Software Engineers that understand the software development principles, have the programming language skills, and can implement digital solutions that will realize this journey of Omnichannel content. Here’s your chance to really make a difference! Job Description As a Software Engineer, you will collaborate closely with colleagues in a cross-functional Agile team, including Software Engineers, and Solution Architects, to design and develop cloud-based products that address business needs defined by the Digital Product Lead. This role is within our Content Management domain and focuses on digital asset management. You see both the big picture and the finer details. You believe in teamwork and focus on outcomes over output. You’re self-motivated, curious, and comfortable exploring new technologies. Most importantly, you’re a humble team player who enjoys turning ideas into real, impactful solutions. Technical Environment We’re looking for someone who is passionate about solving problems end to end and is curious about the entire stack, from backend logic to frontend interfaces, with a particular focus on content management systems and workflows. You’ll be working with technologies like: Frontend – We build our frontends in React, and knowledge from similar frameworks is also useful. Backend – We work mainly with .NET. Experience with any modern backend language translates well. Azure – Our services run in Azure. Experience with Azure is great, but skills from any cloud platform carry over nicely. Terraform & GitHub Actions – We use these for deployments and automation. If you’ve worked with infrastructure-as-code or want to grow that skill, there’s room to do that here. Platform – We use Sitecore. Experience with either or a similar CMS system is a bonus. Testing – We value testing and continuous improvement. You don’t need to be a testing specialist — just someone who cares about quality and learning how to measure impact. Databases & Storage – Our data lives in Azure CosmosDB and Azure Storage accounts (blob storage). Experience with these platforms, or specific technologies like the MongoDB API, is great but not required on day one. Recruitment process Call with a Recruiter – An informal conversation to explore whether the role, the company, and IKEA values are a good fit for both sides. Meet your Hiring Manager – A deeper discussion about your background and experience. Technical Assignment – Complete a coding exercise to showcase your skills. Technical Interview – Review your solution and discuss hands-on examples with a couple of our Engineers. Meet your Grandparent – A grandparent is the manager of the hiring manager. Supportive and full of knowledge, helping you get a good start with a broader perspective on the role you applied for. References – Provide contacts who can speak to your skills and experience. Additional information This is a full-time position located in Malmö (Aligned with our operational requirements, gatherings in IKEA’s headquarters in Älmhult are integral to our business operation). This role sits in the digital product area Commercial and reports to the Team Manager. If you would like to know more about the role, or if you have questions about the recruitment process, please connect with Jordi Menick (Jordi.menick@inter,ikea.com) At IKEA, we are looking for people who believe everyone deserves a seat at the table. You’re welcome no matter where you come from, what you believe, and what you look like. We don’t even care how you have furnished your home. We’re interested in you simply because you’re you. Even if your experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. We believe that people’s different perspectives, backgrounds, and personalities make us better at understanding our customers dreams and needs. If you have any special needs that require accommodation in the recruitment process, please let us know.
