JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Enterprise Monitoring Team provides Observability Solutions such as Dynatrace, Datadog and Splunk to various lines of businesses to meet TD’s observability needs.
Observability Solutions play a critical role within the bank to provide monitoring coverage to all TD applications systems including crown jewel applications across Public Cloud platforms (Azure, GCP) and Private Cloud platforms.
Segment CIOs and Technology leaders rely on Observability solutions to track critical availability and performance metrics,. Application owners, Developers and Site Reliability Engineers use Observability Solutions to perform their day-to-day responsibilities to gain insights into customer experience, application operations and performance.
The Software Engineer II (Cloud Engineer) will develop solutions utilizing DevOps pipelines to deploy Infrastructure as Code to build Observability platforms and enable Observability Solutions (Dynatrace, Datadog, Splunk) for various Cloud Services on Public Cloud (Azure, GCP) and Private Cloud platforms using orchestration tools such as Terraform, Saltstack and Ansible. The role requires deep expertise in containerization with Kubernetes. The role provides technical and consulting support to project teams to deploy infrastructure as code with varying degrees of supervision and act as a subject matter expert.

EXPERIENCE AND / OR EDUCATION

  • Undergraduate degree, Postgraduate degree or Technical Certificate
  • Strong academic background (e.g., computer science, engineering)
  • 3-5 years relevant experience
  • Capable of applying best DevOps practices to develop Infrastructure/Platform as Code using Ansible/Saltstack/Terraform
  • Expertise in containerization with Kubernetes
  • Fluent in writing effective and scalable Python code
  • Ability to write Shell scripts
  • 2+ Years of related experience as a Cloud Engineer with sound knowledge of Azure services
  • Skilled in system-level architecture, like Linux or Windows or past system engineer/administrator experience
  • Strong background in system design, development, architecture, application deployment
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Ability to perform detailed analysis of business problems and technical environment
  • Ability to troubleshoot any operational issues related to the infrastructure and software
  • Experience in the development practices, processes and code of Enterprise Delivery Pipeline and CADP preferred
  • Experience in developing self-service infrastructure provisioning, delivery pipelines, log and monitoring services in Private Cloud (VMWare) and Public Cloud platforms (Azure, GCP) preferred
  • Azure/GCP Cloud certification would be preferred
  • Possesses excellent technical acumen
  • Understands code development and deployment processes and implements best practices in development, deployment and DevOps practices
  • Understands application availability and strives towards keeping applications up and stable in multiple application environments
  • Quickly analyzes business and technology challenges and recommends appropriate IT solutions and services in a real-time support environment
  • Resolves issues that cross multiple systems or departments that may affect the application stability
  • Understands importance of source code configuration management
  • Tracks open issues and resolution of issues
  • Self-motivated and focused individual who enjoys a fast-paced environment requiring attention to detail
