SUMMARY

The Globalization team within Guidewire’s Product Development & Operations organization, translates application UIs, documentation, education & training material into many languages, and helps teams internationalize products. We currently have a good set of tooling that automates translation workflows, but there’s more to do.
We’re looking to improve and/or increase our use of the following:
Workflow automation.
Machine translation.
Machine learning; training and use of large language models where appropriate.
Programmatic evaluation of translation quality.
Your experience might not precisely match - esp. as it pertains to the domain of internationalization & translation and its many nuances. That’s fine. We can teach you that. Fundamentally you’re a competent developer and problem solver. Your grit and readiness to learn and grow will stand out, and you might be the one who challenges our assumptions about this role’s requirements.

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:

• Collaborate with others, while also having lots of autonomy to propose & implement new solutions.
• Work to understand workflow problems, and design automation to solve.
• Work on the architecture, design and development of new features while working with the latest cloud technologies.
• Lead by example and be looked to for technical guidance in code and design reviews.
• Work with many other teams to ensure internationalization standards are met

YOU’LL FIND SUCCESS IN THIS ROLE IF YOU:

• Love looking at existing processes, dissecting, understanding, identifying which steps are best suited for automation / tooling
• Have a strong technical background, including 2-4 years (for level II and III respectively) of experience in software design and development
• Solid experience in software development, with a focus on Java / Spring, Microservices, and React / Typescript.
• Have hands-on experience with (or want to get) Docker, AWS, TeamCity
• Love working across internal teams to influence them for our mutual benefit
