Our team builds this platform using cutting-edge AI and large-scale data systems to surface actionable insights from collaboration and business signals. We’re hiring a Backend Software Engineer II to help deliver intuitive, AI-powered experiences that enable customers to understand work patterns, optimize collaboration, and unlock the full value of Microsoft Copilot. We also use generative AI extensively in our own development process to move fast, learn continuously, and deliver customer value at scale.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of experience designing and implementing large-scale distributed systems or cloud platforms.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Familiarity with modern version control systems like Git and agile development methodologies.
• Experience applying AI/ML techniques or working with generative AI systems in production environments.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively across teams and disciplines.
  Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.

Design and implement scalable backend systems that power AI-driven insights and analytics for Microsoft 365 Copilot and Viva Insights.

• Build and optimize data pipelines and services that process billions of signals to generate actionable, privacy-aware insights.
