As a Software Engineer II, you will be part of a dynamic team in the People Understanding group working on cutting-edge projects that leverage the vast ecosystem of Microsoft 365 (M365) products. Your primary focus will be on developing personalization features that understand and anticipate the needs of our users, particularly in the context of their interactions with others.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
• OR equivalent experience.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

• Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, develop, and maintain software modules and features with a focus on quality, performance, and scalability for personalization and AI features within M365 products.
• Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and other cross-functional teams to align discrete tasks and deliver end-to-end technical solutions.
• Utilize deep technical expertise to explore design options, present technical tradeoffs, and make confident technical decisions.
• Anticipate potential issues using data and insights, and develop strategies to mitigate them.
• Contribute to the improvement of team processes and encourage positive interactions within and between groups.
• Ensure solutions consider diagnosability, monitoring, reliability, security, compliance, and maintainability.
• Engage with customers to understand their needs and align tasks with project-level objectives and the team’s vision.
• Understands the engineering lifecycle by building repeatable tools and processes that scale while balancing short-term and long-term trade-offs in long-term projects that involve many stakeholders.
• Can onboard and adapt to new and proprietary technology stacks beyond Microsoft’s industry stacks.
