MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience. * 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree. * 2 years of experience with Android application development. * Experience with embedded systems/firmware design. * Experience with Audio, C++, Java, or Kotlin. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Experience working with the Android media APIs. * Experience in embedded framework development or Android system-level programming with Android Open Source Project (AOSP) contributions. * Experience with object-oriented development, with a focus on either embedded systems or Android platform engineering. * Experience in audio software development in the automotive industry. * Understanding of core Android components and concepts (e.g., services, activities, content providers, permissions). * Excellent communication skills. The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and optimize Android audio framework components and system software. * Dive into the Automotive audio stack, architecting and developing solutions that span API design, Android framework modifications, system services, Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) interfaces, and native libraries (C/C++). * Build and own critical software modules integral to the audio subsystems in Android Automotive OS. This includes full lifecycle development from initial design and implementation to ongoing maintenance, enhancement, and rigorous bug-fixing. * Drive execution, drive high quality, and drive product goals with product managers. * Guide and vet systems designs within the scope of the audio subsystem, and write product or system development code to solve ambiguous, subtle, complex, or large-scale technical problems.
