Overview:
GitHub is changing the way the world builds software and we want you to help build and secure GitHub. We’re looking for an experienced software engineer to help build and maintain our internal tooling, data and infrastructure as they protect the home of all developers.
As part of a team of engineers, you will be responsible for maintaining, developing, testing and deploying internal tooling to fight threats relating to safety, fraud and abuse. At GitHub, Platform Health’s mission is to ensure GitHub’s platform safety through fighting malware, spam and fraud, monitoring for fake accounts, countering inauthentic content, battling crypto mining, and other core areas. You will be involved in collaborations across teams within GitHub including integrating our tooling across the platform, contributing to key open source projects and setting the standard high quality tool development to ensure content is moderated, users are kept safe and the open-source community can flourish.
If you have a foundation in online platform trust and safety issues, skills in software engineering and an empathetic approach to mentoring and collaborating with a diverse team from entry-level associates to seasoned senior contributors then this might be the gig for you.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 4+ years experience in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline with proven experience maintaining and delivering production software languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, JavaScript, Go, Ruby, Rust, or Pythono OR Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Math, Physics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field AND 3+ years experienceo OR Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Math, Physics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field AND 2+ years experience in Computer Science, or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, JavaScript, Go, Ruby, Rust, or Pythono OR Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Math, Physics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related fieldo OR equivalent experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in analytical fields.
  • Experience in Trust and Safety or fighting spam, malware, fraud, and threat actor activity at scale.
  • A passion for fostering good engineering practices, tools, and processes.
  • Experience in DevOps.
    Compensation Range: The base salary range for this job is USD $97,900.00 - USD $259,900.00 /Yr.
    These pay ranges are intended to cover roles based across the United States. An individual’s base pay depends on various factors including geographical location and review of experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant. At GitHub certain roles are eligible for benefits and additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These rewards are allocated based on individual impact in role. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role.
