Description
Intrinsic is Alphabet’s bet aiming to reimagine the potential of industrial robotics. Our team believes that advances in AI, perception and simulation will redefine what’s possible for industrial robotics in the near future – with software and data at the core. Our mission is to make industrial robotics intelligent, accessible, and usable for millions more businesses, entrepreneurs, and developers. We are a dynamic team of engineers, roboticists, designers, and technologists who are passionate about unlocking the creative and economic potential of industrial robotics. Role Are you passionate about democratizing robotics and making cutting-edge technology accessible for all? We are seeking highly motivated and talented interns to join our dynamic team and contribute to our open-source robotics middleware initiatives. How your work moves the mission forward Develop high-performance visualization tools for our Site Editor using Rust and the Bevy game engine. Implement interactive zone editing and spatio-temporal visualizations to help operators understand robot fleet allocation in real-time. Contribute directly to open-source robotics projects, specifically within the Open-RMF ecosystem. Bridge the gap between robotics data and visual feedback by leveraging rclrs (ROS 2 client library for Rust). Solve interesting challenges in computational geometry and 3D rendering to create intuitive interfaces for complex industrial environments. Collaborate with the open-source community and internal teams to improve the developer experience for next-generation robotics tooling. Skills you will need to be successful Bachelor’s student in Computer Science, Robotics, or related field. Proficiency in Rust or C++ with a strong desire to learn Rust quickly. Interest or experience in Simulation, Game Development or Computer Graphics (experience with game engines like Bevy, Unity, or Unreal is a huge plus). Familiarity with ROS 2 (Robot Operating System) or willingness to learn internal mechanics via rclrs. Strong understanding of 3D math and geometry (vectors, transforms, coordinate systems) required for site editing tools. Enthusiasm for Open Source software; previous contributions to open-source projects are highly valued. At Intrinsic, we are proud to be an equal opportunity workplace.
