We seek an experienced Software Engineer with specialized expertise in full-stack .NET/C# development to support VA’s Financial Management System (FMS), Human Capital Management (HCM), or Secretary of VA / Congressional / Legal Affairs (SCLA). This role is critical to developing and maintaining complex applications using Microsoft technologies. You will build robust, scalable applications directly impacting VA operations and Veteran services.
In this role, you’ll develop full-stack applications using the .NET ecosystem, ensuring high-quality code that meets enterprise standards while supporting VA’s mission to deliver exceptional services to Veterans and VA personnel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full-Stack .NET Development: Design, develop, and maintain comprehensive web applications using .NET/C# across the entire technology stack from database to user interface.
  • Application Architecture: Contribute to application architecture decisions using .NET best practices and enterprise design patterns.
  • Database Integration: Develop robust data access layers using Entity Framework, ADO.NET, and direct SQL integration with SQL Server and Oracle databases.
  • Web Application Development: Create responsive web applications using ASP.NET Core, MVC, and modern front-end frameworks integrated with .NET backend services.
  • API Development: Develop RESTful APIs and web services using .NET Core/Framework to support system integrations and mobile applications.
  • Performance Optimization: Implement performance optimization techniques specific to .NET applications and SQL Server databases.
  • DevSecOps Integration: Participate in CI/CD pipeline development using Azure DevOps and automated testing frameworks for .NET applications.

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline
  • 4+ years of experience in .NET/C# development with full-stack capabilities
  • Strong proficiency in C#, .NET Framework, and .NET Core
  • Experience with ASP.NET Core, MVC, and Web API development
  • Proficiency in SQL Server database development and Entity Framework
  • Knowledge of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and integration with .NET backends
  • Experience with Visual Studio and .NET development tools
  • Understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns

Preferred Experience and Certifications

  • Previous experience supporting VA systems or federal government applications
  • Microsoft certifications (.NET, Azure, SQL Server)
  • Experience with Azure cloud platform and deployment
  • Knowledge of human resources and supply chain management systems
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies and DevSecOps practices
  • Understanding of federal compliance and security requirements

Advanced Technical Skills:

  • Advanced .NET architecture and enterprise application design
  • Experience with microservices architecture using .NET Core
  • Understanding of .NET performance optimization and best practices
  • Knowledge of modern .NET development tools and frameworks

Job Type: Contract
Pay: $46.00 - $53.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
