Description

About LoadLink

LoadLink is an Australian digital freight and logistics platform that connects shippers with carriers and supports parcel, pallet and heavy-freight movements. Its online services include freight listings and quotes, carrier loadboards, shipment tracking, parcel freight, and eCommerce integrations such as Shopify and WooCommerce. The business operates technology-enabled services intended to make shipping and freight management simpler and more efficient across Australia. LoadLink is seeking a Software Engineer to help design, develop, test, maintain and improve the software systems behind our digital logistics marketplace. This is a hands-on engineering role for a technically strong professional who can translate business and user requirements into secure, reliable and scalable software solutions.

About the Role

As Software Engineer, you will contribute to the design, development, implementation and ongoing support of LoadLink’s software applications and systems. You will work across the software development lifecycle, analysing system needs, identifying technical limitations, writing and maintaining program code, testing and debugging applications, supporting deployments, documenting solutions and improving the reliability, security and performance of the platform.

The role is particularly relevant to a digital logistics business because LoadLink relies on web-based freight marketplaces, real-time pricing and tracking functionality, carrier and shipper workflows, eCommerce integrations and responsive online services. The successful candidate will help ensure these systems remain robust, maintainable, secure and capable of supporting business growth.

Key Responsibilities

1. Work closely with LoadLink’s product, operations and commercial teams to understand business requirements and translate freight, booking, quoting and tracking workflows into practical software solutions.

2. Review existing applications, integrations and technical processes to identify performance issues, development constraints and opportunities to improve system reliability, scalability and maintainability.

3. Build and enhance software features that support LoadLink’s digital freight platform, including functionality used by shippers, carriers and internal operational teams.

4. Develop clean, maintainable and secure application code based on approved technical designs, business requirements and LoadLink’s development practices.

5. Investigate software defects and production issues, determine their underlying causes, implement appropriate fixes and verify that changes operate correctly before release.

6. Develop and maintain APIs and system integrations that enable information to move reliably between freight quoting, booking, shipment tracking, carrier services and connected eCommerce platforms.

7. Prepare and maintain technical records covering application functionality, system changes, integrations, deployment processes and operational support requirements.

8. Participate in technical planning and solution design by assessing implementation options and providing recommendations on architecture, development approaches, technology changes and platform improvements.

9. Maintain and improve automated development workflows for software testing, code integration and application releases to support consistent and reliable deployments.

10. Monitor application logs, system behaviour and performance data to detect recurring issues, service bottlenecks and opportunities to improve platform availability and responsiveness.

11. Build and enhance internal utilities, monitoring capabilities and engineering processes that assist with the operation, maintenance and protection of LoadLink’s software environment.

12. Apply secure development practices when designing and modifying applications, and address technical or security risks identified during development, deployment and ongoing operation.

13. Work with relevant stakeholders to plan and deliver platform enhancements that simplify freight processes, improve the customer experience and support the continued growth of LoadLink’s digital services.

Key Skills and Experience Requirements

1. Minimum of one year of relevant professional experience in software engineering, software development or a comparable programming role within a commercial environment.

2. Demonstrated programming and software design skills, with hands-on experience building, enhancing and supporting applications used in production environments.

3. Practical experience working with web-based applications, APIs, databases and system integrations. Exposure to logistics, transport, digital marketplaces, eCommerce or other transaction-based platforms will be highly regarded.

4. Familiarity with modern software development practices, including version control, peer code review, automated testing and continuous integration and deployment processes.

5. Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into well-structured, practical and maintainable technical solutions.

6. Sound understanding of secure software development principles, application monitoring, performance optimisation and the management of technical risks.

7. Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, including the ability to investigate technical issues, determine root causes and implement effective solutions.

8. Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document technical information clearly and work productively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

9. Ability to manage individual responsibilities while contributing effectively within a collaborative and fast-paced digital business environment.

10. Australian citizens and permanent residents are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

o A Bachelor degree or higher qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a closely related discipline is preferred or at least five years of relevant experience and/or relevant vendor certification may substitute for the formal qualification.

o Relevant technical certifications or relevant experience in cloud platforms, software development, DevOps or application security will be regarded where applicable.

Why LoadLink?

o Work on a technology platform supporting real-world freight and logistics movements across Australia.

o Contribute to products spanning parcel freight, heavy-freight marketplaces, tracking, carrier services and eCommerce integrations.

o Opportunity to influence software quality, scalability, automation, security and customer experience as the platform grows.

o Collaborative role with direct exposure to operational and commercial users of the technology.

If you are ready to apply your software engineering expertise to a growing Australian logistics technology platform, we would like to hear from you.
