Overview The Azure PostgreSQL Database Services team is hiring Software Engineer(s) to join our mission to build the next-generation PostgreSQL platform on Azure. This platform powers mission-critical applications across startups, enterprises, and AI-driven workloads. As a Software Engineer, you will contribute to innovations in storage systems, high availability, replication, query processing, and PostgreSQL engine internals, gaining deep experience in real-world distributed systems. You’ll work in a collaborative, dynamic environment where your ideas, curiosity, and academic expertise are valued. Responsibilities Learn how cloud infrastructure, managed database services, and global-scale systems operate in practice Contribute to the design and implementation of high-scale, distributed components that form the foundation of Azure’s managed PostgreSQL service Work on deep systems problems in areas such as database internals, replication, storage, query processing, and performance optimization Collaborate with experienced engineers and mentors to translate ideas from research and design into production-grade systems Produce high-quality code using agentic coding techniques and participate in design reviews, code reviews, and operational reviews Help shape features and services that directly impact developers, enterprises, and future AI workloads Stay current with academic and industry trends in databases and systems, and apply cutting-edge ideas to real-world engineering problems Qualifications Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in systems programming languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, Rust, or Python OR Master's Degree (or currently pursuing) in Computer Science or related technical field with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Rust, or Python Legally authorized to work in Turkey (Legally authorised = Has citizenship or has been granted a valid visa or work permit) Preferred Qualifications: Passion for building outstanding experiences for developers and empathy for developer workflows Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and open-source communities and projects Commitment to continuous learning, innovation, and building an inclusive, high-performing engineering culture Strong technical fundamentals in distributed systems, concurrency, cloud-native architecture, or database internals Familiarity and passion to master agentic coding techniques for more efficient development cycles This position will be open for a minimum of 5 days, with applications accepted on an ongoing basis until the position is filled.
