QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a dynamic software development environment. New graduates with relevant project or internship experience are also encouraged to apply.
  • Education: Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is beneficial but not mandatory. A strong foundation in computer science principles and a willingness to learn are what we value.
  • Programming Skills: Familiarity with developing software in TypeScript, Python, Rust, or other programming languages. Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new technologies.
  • Frontend Development: Exposure to frontend development and a portfolio (projects or internships) showcasing web applications.
  • APIs and Databases: Understanding of how to consume and design basic APIs. Exposure to databases and an eagerness to deepen this knowledge.
  • Web Technologies: Proficiency in HTML, CSS, TypeScript, and familiarity with frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js. Interest in building web applications using TypeScript with Node.js is a plus.
  • Web Performance and Security: Awareness of web performance optimisation and security principles.
  • Problem-solving and Detail Orientation: Good problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Team Collaboration: Willingness to learn from and contribute to a team. Open to receiving mentorship from more experienced engineers.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to peers. Open to developing skills to communicate with non-technical stakeholders.
  • Testing and Integration: Exposure to or interest in learning about automated testing frameworks and continuous integration.
  • Agile Methodologies: Familiarity with or willingness to learn agile development practices.
  • Cloud Environments: Interest in gaining experience with building and deploying applications in cloud environments such as GCP, AWS, Azure, etc.

Responsibilities:

THE ROLE / RESPONSIBILITIES:

As an Associate Engineer, you will support the team in delivering high-quality, scalable web applications. You’ll contribute to ensuring best practices are followed, help to adopt new technologies, and work to enhance the user experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Technical Support: Assist in guiding the team under the direction of senior technical leaders. Participate in architectural discussions, and collaborate with other engineers, designers, and product managers.
  • Code Quality: Adhere to coding standards, participate in code reviews, and support the implementation of automated testing under the mentorship of more experienced team members.
  • Learning and Innovation: Keep abreast of latest industry trends, actively learn from team projects, and support the integration of new tools with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Project Contribution: Support project planning and management. Help in task delegation and progress monitoring under the supervision of project leads.
  • Collaboration: Contribute to a collaborative team environment, communicate effectively with team members, and support stakeholder communications as directed by senior staff.
  • User Experience Support: Contribute to ensuring interfaces are intuitive, responsive, and accessible, under the guidance of UX/UI designers and more experienced engineers.
