Job Description About the opportunity Join our Global Technology Team as Mid-Level Software Engineer to make a real impact every day. Reporting into Senior Manager of Software Engineering, you will play a meaningful role in powering one of Xplor's core products - our Office (Admin) platform, which supports critical business workflows for customers across Australia. This is a full-stack engineering role sitting within an established, collaborative team spread across Australia and India. You'll work alongside senior engineers, product managers, and cross-functional feature groups to build and improve systems that genuinely matter, contributing to both a modern Laravel/Vue stack and the ongoing modernisation of legacy systems. What you'll be doing: As a key member of the engineering team, you'll be hands-on across the full stack from day one. Your day-to-day will include: Developing, maintaining, and enhancing backend systems using PHP and Laravel, alongside frontend features built in Vue.js Contributing across both the modern Laravel/Vue stack and the existing CodeIgniter system as part of an active, ongoing modernisation effort Managing deployments directly via AWS this team owns its own deployments, so you'll be hands-on with ECS, Lambda, SQS, and pipelines. Collaborating with senior engineers, QA, and product teams through structured feature groups to refine requirements and deliver production-ready work. Participating actively in code reviews, upholding code quality, and aligning your work with existing architecture patterns Taking time to deeply understand existing systems and architecture before gradually growing your influence on technical decision-making Working effectively across time zones as part of a distributed team spanning Australia and India. Location: Remote within Australia, with a preference for Melbourne-based candidates and full Australian working rights. Qualifications What would make you a great fit? You'll need: 3–5 years of hands-on PHP development experience with strong Laravel framework knowledge Solid experience with Vue.js - React experience will be considered Strong MySQL skills, including the ability to write and optimise efficient queries Experience with Docker and containerised development environments Practical understanding of CI/CD pipelines and modern development workflows Working knowledge of AWS fundamentals. You don’t need to be a cloud expert, but you should be comfortable navigating core services such as ECS, Lambda, SQS, and deployment pipelines. Experience with CodeIgniter or other legacy PHP frameworks Comfortable working in a distributed team environment across time zones It would be great if you also have: Experience contributing to system modernisation or migration projects Familiarity with Agile methodologies and structured feature delivery A collaborative, curious mindset - someone who reads the codebase before rewriting it.
