As an Automation Engineer at Optum, you will be an integral part of the Enterprise Imaging Product team. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our software products through the development and implementation of automated testing frameworks. This position requires a collaborative self-starter who is passionate about automation, takes ownership, and drives results. You will work with a distributed, global team and multiple stakeholders to deliver high-quality software solutions.
You will enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within Canada as you take on some tough challenges.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3+ years of practical experience in software automation engineering
  • 3+ years of experience in programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, or Java, (at least 2 years of experience in each)
  • 3+ years of experience with automated testing tools like Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright
  • 3+ years of experience in developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions
  • 3+ years of experience working in Agile software development teams
  • 2+ years of experience with cloud platforms, particularly Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • 2+ years of experience with cloud-based monitoring and logging tools, such as Grafana
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to automated tests and CI/CD pipelines

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in the healthcare industry or other regulated industries
  • Expertise in containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes
  • Proven track record of promoting and building an inclusive culture within teams
  • Experience with advanced test automation strategies, including AI-driven testing and machine learning models
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex ideas and solutions to diverse audiences
  • Experience working with geographically distributed teams and managing remote collaborations
  • Proficiency in DevOps methodologies, including infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or Ansible
  • Experience in developing and implementing security best practices for automated testing in cloud environments

    Canada Residents Only: The salary range for Canada residents is $61,400 to $127,500 per year. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks to support product features
  • Collaborate with software engineers and stakeholders to identify test requirements and ensure comprehensive test coverage
  • Utilize cutting-edge tools and technologies such as Selenium, Cypress, and Playwright to create robust automated tests
  • Implement and manage continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum methodology to deliver high-quality software releases through sprints
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to automated tests and CI/CD pipelines
  • Develop and maintain automated tests for cloud-native applications on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Ensure the scalability and reliability of automated testing frameworks in a cloud environment
  • Integrate automated tests with cloud-based monitoring and logging tools to enhance test visibility and debugging
