The Opportunity We are looking for a versatile, curious, and energetic Staff Engineer who embraces solving complex challenges on a global scale. In this role, you will be an integral part of a multi-functional development team inventing, designing, building, and testing software products that reach a truly global customer base. As part of the EU Engineering Department at Visa A2A Payments and Open Banking, you'll be responsible for developing, implementation, maintenance & support of A2A Payments functionality. Through this challenging job, you'll gain experience collaborating with various parts of the business in understanding requirements for enhancements, identifying areas of improvement and implementing changes to the system or processes where needed. Responsibilities: Work with high load systems with high uptime requirements, including on-call shifts Work with Visa’s technologies: Java, NodeJS, AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, SQL, Datadog and much more Lead the design and implementation of risk engineering processes for open banking systems Lead the end-to-end design and architecture of a new systems, ensuring it meets the highest standards of scalability, reliability, and performance Evaluate and select appropriate technologies, frameworks, and tools to build the risk engine Implement advanced algorithms and data models to accurately assess and manage financial risks Integrate the risk engine with existing systems and data sources to ensure seamless operation Develop and refine risk assessment models using statistical and machine learning techniques Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager. Qualifications 4+ years’ experience in the Open Banking space, with deep technical expertise in OB Payments. Proven experience as a strong Senior/Staff engineer, leading teams in payments and open banking. Strong understanding of both backend and frontend systems in Open Banking. In-depth experience with Visa systems, processes, and standards. Experience working with distributed teams (contractors and FTEs). Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience engaging senior executives and enterprise clients Demonstrated track record of operational excellence and meaningful impact Solid experience in agile development environments, ideally within fintech/payments. Excellent organizational, prioritization, and communication skills—both written and verbal. Additional Information Visa is an EEO Employer.
