The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Software Engineer (Associate/Experienced) to support the Strategic Deterrent Systems Team located in Layton, UT. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense Services (BDS) business organization.
The Boeing Strategic Deterrent Systems team is dedicated to developing and maintaining the software that powers Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBM) weapon system, playing a critical role in national defense. Join us in our mission to protect and serve.
We are seeking a talented and motivated Software Engineer to join our Strategic Deterrence Systems team. In this role, you will be responsible for the full software lifecycle development of software that supports the ICBM program, contributing to the design, implementation, testing, and maintenance of mission-critical systems. This is an exciting opportunity to work on products that have a direct impact on national security.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE):

  • 2+ years of experience in software development

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • Familiarity with hardware integration and testing processes is a plus
  • Experience with Fortran programming language
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and design software solutions for ICBM systems.
  • Develop, test, and maintain high-quality field operational software using Fortran 77 as the primary programming language.
  • Develop support and maintenance tools using modern technology, including C#, Python, Gitlab, VS Code.
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to software development best practices and standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and performance issues.
  • Document software designs, processes, and procedures to ensure clarity and compliance.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance software development processes and tools.
