SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • Degree or equivalent in computing, software development or other related subjects.
  • Experience with high-level software development and object-oriented programming, C# or equivalent.
  • Experience with .NET development and Windows desktop applications.
  • Experience with SQL databases.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Good knowledge of Windows OS and basic IT problem solving skills.
  • Driving licence.

Nice to Have

  • Experience or interest in mobile application development, electronics, IoT applications.
  • Experience in developing sensor technologies.
  • Experience or interest in the Adobe suite and marketing.

Responsibilities

ROLE

Based in Cheddar, Somerset, Sentinor is a small family-run business, specialising in security technology, producing advanced sensors and alarm systems designed for the protection of critical national infrastructure.
The successful candidate will work as part of the research and development team to create software applications for products, engineers and internal systems, including Windows .NET applications and SQL databases, as well as assisting with R&D projects. The role will also involve providing remote and on-site support to Sentinor engineers and third parties for Sentinor’s specialist systems and applications.
This role will appeal to people who enjoy problem solving, as well as development, testing and supporting a range of innovative technologies and products. During quieter times, the successful candidate is expected to be proactive in developing their own technical knowledge and skills relevant to the role.

T&CS

  • Pay dependent on experience and qualifications.
  • Full time, permanent (40hrs per week).
  • 23 days leave (+8 days Public Holiday).
  • Reporting to IT Administrator.

JOB ROLES

Software Engineer

  • Develop and maintain new and existing C# applications and SQL databases.
  • Assist with research and development projects.
  • Provide remote and on-site support to Sentinor engineers for system configuration tools.
  • Provide remote and on-site support to third parties for Sentinors specialist applications and systems.
  • Assist with the creation of documentation and user manuals for software applications and systems.

IT

  • Provide basic IT support for staff members.

Other Duties

  • Undertake additional related duties required by the business.
