Description
The Software Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, and supporting Syspro’s internal desktop, web, API, and cloud‑based applications. The role translates business and technical requirements into reliable, high‑quality software solutions while ensuring adherence to engineering standards, governance requirements, and delivery timelines. It contributes to system stability, innovation, and continuous improvement by resolving defects, maintaining documentation, and supporting operational teams. Ultimately, the role enables scalable, secure, and efficient applications that support Syspro’s products and internal operations. * Design, develop, and maintain .NET‑based   desktop, web, and API applications in line with Syspro’s architecture and development standards. * Analyse business and technical requirements by   engaging with stakeholders, product owners, and scrum teams to ensure   accurate interpretation and implementation. * Research, evaluate, and apply new technologies   where appropriate to improve performance, scalability, security, and   maintainability of Syspro applications. * Develop cloud‑based services and applications,   including deployment and configuration on Microsoft Azure platforms. * Build and enhance front‑end   components using modern web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to   deliver intuitive user experiences. * Identify, diagnose, and resolve software   defects and technical issues within agreed timelines to maintain application   stability and performance. * Ensure all development work is accurately   documented, including design artefacts, technical specifications, and process   documentation. * Support application deployment activities and   ensure smooth implementation across environments. * Provide technical support and guidance to end   users and internal teams when required, including escalation support for   complex issues. * Assist other development teams through   collaboration, knowledge sharing, and technical input where required. * Support teams and third‑party   vendors with technical development and integration queries. * Ensure governance compliance by adhering to   company policies, security standards, development procedures, and reporting   requirements. * Maintain backups, version control, and system   documentation to ensure continuity, recoverability, and audit readiness. * Contribute to the continuous improvement of   development practices, tools, and engineering processes within the team. Minimum Level of Education   * National Diploma or NQF 5 equivalent Beneficial Qualifications   * Relevant certifications Minimum Experience * At least 5 years working experience with the below technologies: ASP.NET MVC; HTML 5 (JavaScript, jQuery, CSS); SQL; Windows Communication Foundation(WCF); C#; Entity Framework – Not required but beneficial; Visual Studio 2013 / 2015; Team Foundation Server; XML Beneficial Experience * Prior integration work with Syspro or Hubspot Special Skills and Knowledge * Developing ASP.NET MVC 4 Web  * Developing Windows Azure and Web Services  * Essentials of Developing Windows Store Apps Using C# * Programming in HTML5 with JavaScript and CSS3 * Strong software engineering skills across web, API, and desktop applications. * Solid problem‑solving ability with a strong attention to detail and quality. * Good understanding of modern web technologies and software integration patterns. * Experience developing and deploying solutions using Microsoft Azure. * Ability to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions. * Strong collaboration and communication skills within agile development teams. 25 annual leave days 30 days paid sick leave over 3-year cycle Hybrid working environment (2 - 3 office days as determined by the function/ manager) Pension Medical aid Life insurance Group income protection Bonus/ commission Maternity: 6 months at half pay Paternity: 2 weeks full pay
