About the job


We are seeking a Software Engineer to support and enhance core speech technology platforms. The role focuses on maintaining highly available production systems, improving reliability and performance, and driving automation and operational excellence. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to optimise infrastructure, monitoring, and deployment processes.






Responsibilities


  • Deploy, maintain, and support production systems and applications.
  • Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity, ensuring issues are proactively identified and resolved.
  • Develop and maintain operational monitoring, alerting, and reporting solutions.
  • Participate in an on-call rota, providing out-of-hours support when required.
  • Troubleshoot incidents and implement improvements to system reliability, scalability, and performance.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to enhance system architecture and operational processes.
  • Maintain documentation, standards, and best practices for production environments.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring compliance with quality and professional standards.





Skills & Experience


  • Bachelor's degree with 4+ years' experience, or equivalent industry experience in Site Reliability Engineering, Operations Support, DevOps, or Application Support.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience managing Linux-based environments.
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, automation, and container technologies.
  • Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, version control systems, and infrastructure as code.
  • Desirable TechnologiesPython, Shell, Java, or Go.
  • Git (GitHub/GitLab).
  • PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or similar databases.
  • Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and Ansible.
  • AWS services including EC2, EKS, S3, RDS, and CloudFront.
  • Grafana, Elasticsearch, Kibana, Logstash, Redis, and related monitoring tools.
  • Exposure to AI/ML platforms, models, or agent-based technologies.
