Description:

As an Offboard Software Engineer, you’ll take on a key leadership role in our automation projects. You’ll work closely with the project engineering team, contributing to the design, configuration, testing, and implementation of software that drives AGF and conveyor functionality.   • Lead the development and configuration of software for our AGF traffic controller and warehouse management systems.
  • Efficiently deploy proprietary software to customer servers.
  • Address and resolve customer inquiries regarding potential software issues.
  • Convert customer requirements into technical specifications and test plans.
  • Set up servers and PCs, installing software in both physical and virtual environments.
  • Work closely with team members, including Software Engineers (onboard, offboard, RSD), Mechatronic Engineers, and Project Managers.
  • Stay current with new technologies by participating in in-house and external courses.

Requirements:

  • Skilled in Microsoft Visual Studio .NET, C#, C/C++, and familiar with source control tools like TFS or Git.
  • Knowledgeable about databases such as MS-SQL and Oracle.
  • Able to quickly learn and adapt to new software and configurations.
  • Basic understanding of networking, including firewalls and network protocols.
  • Experience with material handling systems, particularly conveyors, AGF/AGV and WMS.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Visio.
  • Experienced with Microsoft Windows server and desktop environments.
  • Familiar with server hardware and virtualization technologies.
  • Practical experience with PLCs and I/O modules is advantageous.
  • Strong training skills, capable of guiding users and creating detailed user manuals and help files.
  • Self motivated, detail-oriented, and dedicated to providing an excellent customer experience.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a similar discipline.
  • 4-6 years of experience working in software engineering.
  • The role involves primarily sedentary work and is based at a desk.
  • It requires extended periods of sitting and computer use.
  • The position demands specific visual capabilities, including near and far vision, color recognition, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to shift focus.
  • At times, the job may require climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
