ABOUT US

We’ve grown at an incredibly fast pace since our launch in 2017. We’re the trusted student-recruitment partner to 600 higher ed institutions in 35 countries worldwide, including the University of Cambridge, King’s College London, Boston University, the University of Southern California, NYU Global Services, HEC Paris, and Erasmus.
We’ve raised over $33M from top-tier investors, and we’re on course to achieve our mission of empowering 10 million students to make the right choices in their higher ed journey.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR…

We’re looking for an exceptional mid-level software engineer with a passion for building great products to join our team. You will gain exposure to the full stack of the Unibuddy platform across web, native, and backend to deliver engaging solutions to our users and customers.
This role is primarily focused on the Chat and Chat Widget products which provide a series of experiences and tools to prospective students to engage with universities, helping them to make the most informed decision in choosing a university, and for university staff and ambassadors to enable positive conversations, valuable data, and ultimately increase yield.
Reporting to the squad Tech Lead, you will be working in a cross-functional squad responsible for implementations across a client and server-side stack, with a keen eye for the user journey and their experience using our products. At Unibuddy, we are proud to build products that can be used by anyone - so any exposure to building UI that meets WCAG accessibility requirements is advantageous.
Our tech stack includes NestJS, Typescript, Python, GraphQL, MongoDB, and AWS.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Proficient in Typescript
  • Deep experience with building well architected and reusable components with React
  • Experience building applications powered by GraphQL APIs
  • A deep understanding of React best practices including component lifecycle, performance, memoization, hooks, state management, react-testing-library
  • Experience working within a microservice-driven environment
  • Comfortable with building robust test suites
  • Experience building performant, well-architected microservices using common backend frameworks such as Express or Nest
  • MongoDB or any other NoSQL database solution and an understanding common design patterns, features and limitations
