Verily’s Workbench solution provides a secure, collaborative environment for data generators, research institutions, and biopharma organizations to govern and analyze their data. As the Technical Lead for the User and Accounts Management Team, you will shape and deliver the access and control layers of Workbench—enabling scientists and researchers to work safely with sensitive health data. This role directly contributes to Verily’s mission to bring the promise of precision health to everyone, every day.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of secure user and account management systems within Workbench.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Management and cross-functional engineering teams to define and deliver high-impact features.
  • Develop scalable backend services and user interfaces using Go, Java, React, TypeScript, and Terraform.
  • Drive technical discussions, mentor engineers, and contribute to system architecture decisions.
  • Identify and implement improvements in reliability, performance, and user experience.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a full-stack or backend software engineer in an industry setting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills in cross-functional environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and produce clear, structured technical documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in Golang and building scalable backend systems or APIs.
  • Proven leadership experience in technical direction, mentoring, and system design.
  • Familiarity with React and TypeScript.
  • Cloud computing expertise (Google Cloud Platform or AWS).
  • Passion for developing tools that empower scientists in computational biology and genomics research.
