You will build robust, user-centric software that bridges the Daft backend with an intuitive product experience. This is an opportunity to work in a hybrid environment in San Francisco, CA, with a competitive salary.

• Own end-to-end product development - from initial concept and user discovery through to deployment and iteration.
• Design and build developer-facing applications (CLI, dashboards, SDKs, APIs) and internal tools that simplify complex data workflows.
• Act as a founding engineer - helping define product scope, architectural direction, and best practices for building at scale.
• Collaborate with real users (top AI researchers and engineers) to gather feedback, refine features, and directly influence roadmap decisions.
• Work across the entire stack: backend systems, distributed execution, UI/UX, APIs, and deployment.
• Interface with the core Daft engine (written in Rust/C++), modern cloud platforms, and Python-based ML tooling.

What We Are Looking For In A Candidate

• 10 years of experience in software engineering, with a strong track record of building and shipping applications or dev tools, not just infrastructure.
• Demonstrated experience with greenfield development, 0-to-1 product launches, or founding-level engineering work.
• Hands-on experience gathering user feedback, scoping features, and turning real-world pain points into actionable technical solutions.
• Deep fluency in Python and its data/ML ecosystem (NumPy, Pandas, PyTorch, etc.). Comfort working across fullstack environments.
• Familiarity with distributed systems (e.g., Ray, Spark, Dask) and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP).
• Bonus: Experience with Rust/C++ is appreciated but not required.
• Self-starter mentality with a strong ownership mindset and ability to navigate ambiguity with confidence.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $200,000.00 - $250,000.00 per year
