About the RoleAs a Software Engineering Consultant at Netlight, you will join a collaborative, ambitious, and mutually supportive environment where you define your own journey. You’ll partner with industry-leading clients to solve real business challenges, tackle a variety of technical domains, and grow alongside a brand-new Toronto team. The role has a lot in common with a forward deployed engineer position: you’ll be embedded directly with client teams, building and shipping solutions on the ground to solve their most pressing problems.

  • A Day in the Life at NetlightAs a Software Engineer on our team, you will:Design and build robust, scalable software systems in close collaboration with engineers, product managers, and designers.
  • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of software development, from system design and implementation to testing, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Develop high-quality, scalable solutions for complex challenges across distributed systems, APIs, data, and user-facing applications.
  • Use and build with AI day-to-day - from AI-assisted coding to designing and shipping AI-powered features - to move faster and deliver more value to clients.

  • Qualifications we are looking for Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent.
  • 1-4 years’ experience in software engineering.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written).
  • Based in Toronto; this is a 100% in-person role.
  • Legally eligible to work in Ontario, Canada.
  • Curiosity about multiple industries and technologies.
  • Tech agnostic mindset with proficiency and experience in: C++, Java (Spring Boot), Python (FastAPI, Django), Cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure), SQL.
  • Proficiency with using and building with AI: comfortable working with AI coding assistants/agents, and experience integrating AI or LLM capabilities into products.
  • Strong Communication Skills.
