Description
Golden, CO | Full-Time | 12-15 Weeks About Rendezvous Robotics Today, everything we send to space is constrained by what fits inside a rocket fairing. That's a fundamental bottleneck if we want to build real infrastructure in orbit. Rendezvous Robotics is solving this problem with electromagnetic self-assembling tiles that enable spacecraft and structures to autonomously dock, reconfigure, and scale in space. We're building the foundation for structures that can grow far beyond what any single launch can carry. The Role We're looking for Software Engineering Interns to join us for Summer 2026. You'll work directly alongside our engineering team on software that will fly, and software that makes flight possible. This isn't a side project. You'll own real work that directly impacts our mission. We're hiring across multiple software disciplines: flight software, ground software, GNC (guidance, navigation, and control), and AI/ML applications. We'll match you to the work that best fits your background and interests. What You'll Do Own end-to-end development of software systems or features Design, implement, and test code for spacecraft autonomy, simulation, or ground operations Build and validate software in hardware-in-the-loop environments Develop algorithms for docking, attitude control, or mission planning Collaborate across disciplines with GNC, avionics, and systems engineers What We're Looking For Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline Demonstrated hands-on technical experience outside the classroom: side projects, open source contributions, hackathons, research, or prior internships Proficiency in Python, C/C++, or Rust Strong fundamentals with a bias toward shipping working software Ability to work full-time on-site in Golden, CO for the duration of the internship You'll Stand Out If You Have A portfolio of side projects that demonstrate passion for applied engineering (robotics, drones, embedded systems, simulations, space-related tools) Experience with embedded systems, RTOS, or flight software development Background in controls, dynamics, or GNC algorithm development (Kalman filters, trajectory optimization, attitude determination) Familiarity with machine learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow) and applying ML to real-world systems Experience with Linux systems programming, CI/CD pipelines, or simulation environments Prior aerospace, robotics, or space industry experience ITAR Requirements To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State. Equal Opportunity Rendezvous Robotics is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Employment is based on merit, competence, and qualifications, and will not be influenced by race, color, religion, gender, national origin, ethnicity, veteran status, disability status, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, or any other legally protected status.
Responsibilities
Interns will own end-to-end development of software systems or features, including designing, implementing, and testing code for spacecraft autonomy and ground operations. They will collaborate across disciplines with GNC, avionics, and systems engineers.
