Here, you’ll do more than join something - you’ll add something. Apple’s Vision Products Group (VPG) is looking for a manager to help shape the future of communication on visionOS. The People & Messages team works on features related to FaceTime, Contacts, and Messages. You will play a pivotal role in advancing the state of the art of communication using Spatial Computing. As the manager of this team, you will work closely with others working on all aspects of messages. This includes managers of partner teams, engineers from across the company, and our design team. You’ll build strong relationships, find the best solutions, and advocate for a great customer experience on visionOS.

DESCRIPTION

The People & Messages team is focused on the visionOS Messages app, Messages ecosystem features, and the People tab of the Home Screen. The People tab provides the same functionality as the FaceTime and Contacts apps on other platforms. Beyond that, it’s a starting point for communication. The position requires strong communication and problem-solving skills as well as an ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities. The ability to work as a teammate is significant, as this hands-on position requires multi-functional collaboration with engineers and leaders across domains. Experience leading a software development team and a consistent track record of bringing products to market are critical to this role.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Excellent interpersonal skills, especially the ability to filter and distill meaningful information to the right audience.
• 5+ years of experience developing software for Apple platforms.
• Experience working in a leadership capacity for software features or engineering teams.
• Experience balancing competing priorities and resources from different teams and organizations.
• A passion for communication technologies.
• A background solving technical challenges in an application development environment while supporting engineering teams, building and managing their relationships, and navigating their delivery dependencies.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, especially the ability to filter and distill meaningful information to the right audience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Deep experience working on products built to enable communication. Ideal candidates will have experience with the Apple Messages ecosystem.
• Thorough experience with and enthusiasm for AR/VR. Ideal candidates spend many hours per week working with and living on AR/VR hardware.
• Experience leading multiple concurrent projects and features, including: scope, requirements, timelines, resource allocation tracking, stakeholder management, communications, and risk assessments.
• Understand and work on cross-functional projects with multi-functional schedules across the Apple ecosystem.
