Overview The Times product (Time + Places) is a strategic initiative within Microsoft 365 aimed at transforming time management, scheduling, and meeting preparation, this aligns directly with Outlook Bangalore’s priorities of enhancing productivity, reducing meeting fatigue, and empowering executive administrators with intelligent tools. We are seeking a passionate and experienced Backend Software Engineer (SDEIs) to join our fast-paced engineering team. You will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable backend systems that power intelligent productivity experiences across our platforms. Responsibilities Architect and implement distributed microservices handling billions of interactions daily. Optimize backend systems for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-driven features and modernize legacy systems. Build and maintain automated pipelines for testing, deployment, and monitoring. Ensure security and compliance across all backend services. Contribute to technical documentation, code reviews, and mentorship of junior engineers. Strong proficiency in C#, Java, C++, Scala, or .NET. Experience with cloud infrastructure (preferably Azure) and DevOps practices. Hands-on expertise in Apache Spark, big data processing, and data transformation. Deep understanding of backend architecture, API design, and system modernization. Familiarity with security foundations and compliance protocols in cloud environments. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or PythonOR equivalent experience. 2+ years of working experience in software engineering. Solid programming skills in languages such as C#, Java, Rust, or C++. Passionate about developing high-quality code and able to deliver clean and effective designs to solve complex problems. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Result-driven, reliable, and accountable. Solid communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
