Description

Full job description

Over 30 years, we've grown from a single computer to a global digital lottery technology business (ASX: JIN), operating across Australia, the UK, Canada and the USA. We partner with thousands of good causes worldwide and have helped raise over $290M in FY25 alone.

We build the platforms and products that power lottery and not-for-profit fundraising at scale. It's a business that's still growing, still evolving, and still figuring things out, which means the people who do their best work here are comfortable with ambiguity, think laterally, take real ownership of their work, and adapt well to change

What will you be doing?

We’re looking for two Graduate Software Engineers to join Jumbo on our 12-month graduate program designed to provide broad, practical exposure across our technology platform.

Rather than pigeonholing you into one area, we plan to rotate you through different engineering environments. You’ll spend time in field engineering, working across a wide range of real-world platform needs, and in a more structured platform reliability environment focused on performance, availability, upgrades, and maintaining healthy systems. We're finalising the rotation plan, but the intention is to give you experience across frontend, backend, databases, security, and infrastructure-related work.

You’ll join engineering teams that build and maintain the products powering our digital lottery platform. You’ll work in a fast-paced, Agile engineering environment that embraces industry best practices across CI/CD, test automation, code quality, peer reviews, and AI-assisted development. You’ll learn from experienced engineers while gaining hands-on experience building, testing, and delivering high-quality software.

Our technology stack includes React on the frontend and Golang and PHP on the backend, and you’ll have access to AI development tools such as Claude Code.

What Your Day-to-Day Will Look Like

  • Perform well-defined programming tasks under guidance, writing, testing, debugging, and shipping clean, readable, and efficient production code
  • Work across a broad range of technical challenges, potentially including frontend and backend development, database updates, platform maintenance, security-related work, and technical requirements gathering
  • Help troubleshoot issues and improve platform reliability, performance, scalability, and availability
  • Contribute to upgrades, maintenance, technical documentation, and the removal of outdated or unused code
  • Learn how initiatives move from requirements through team delivery and into production
  • Take part in team planning, code reviews, testing, and continuous delivery practices, using version control tools such as Git
  • Use AI development tools responsibly to support your work while applying your own coding knowledge and judgement
  • Build an understanding of Jumbo’s products, customers, and technology platform through hands-on experience
  • Communicate openly with your team, raising blockers early, asking for help when needed, and learning from mistakes
  • Connect your work to user value and its impact on Jumbo’s customers
