Description

Software Test Engineer II – HIL (m/f/d)

Darmstadt, Germany

Do you want to do more than execute tests? In this role, you will help shape automated HIL validation for battery systems, actively design and improve test environments, and contribute to the next level of software quality, efficiency and test coverage.

Your Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and maintain automated software tests for embedded software and battery systems
  • Plan, execute and document functional, integration, regression and performance tests
  • Set up, configure and continuously improve HIL test environments and simulations
  • Design EE HIL setups, define required interfaces and support related electronics work such as wiring, signal conditioning, measurement setup and troubleshooting
  • Analyze test results, support root-cause analysis and collaborate closely with software, systems and project teams
  • Support software releases, test strategies and continuous improvement of methods, tools and automation level
  • Prepare and present technical results for internal and external stakeholders

Your Profile

  • Degree in computer science, electrical engineering, mechatronics or a comparable technical field
  • Several years of experience in software testing, ideally in automotive, embedded systems or electrification
  • Practical experience with HIL systems, test automation and requirements-based testing
  • Strong hands-on mentality with the willingness to work directly on test benches, electronics, wiring and hardware-related troubleshooting
  • Good knowledge of Python, C/C++, CAPL, MATLAB/Simulink or comparable tools/languages
  • Structured, analytical mindset and enthusiasm for complex technical challenges
  • Strong communication skills, ownership and motivation to improve testing processes sustainably
  • Basic understanding of electrical schematics, measurement equipment and automotive communication protocols such as CAN, LIN or Ethernet

Nice to Have

  • Experience with battery management systems, Automotive SPICE or ISO 26262
  • Experience with Vector, dSPACE, NI, ETAS or comparable HIL platforms
