Description
The role As part of our Defence Delivery group, the Software Integration Engineer will contribute to the development and integration of the Saab 9LV Combat Management System, a naval command and control system that integrates sensors, weapons, and data to provide situational awareness and decision support for maritime operations. As a member of a software system integration team in a large software development organization, the role is responsible for integrating and testing software that is mission essential and safety critical. Further, the successful candidate will: Maintain software integration environments, including integration and installation of software and equipment into test reference sites and various Linux-based environments. Troubleshoot system issues related to Linux servers, networking infrastructure, VMs and containers in distributed environments. Documentation of integration processes, system configurations and troubleshooting guides. Prepare test documentation, conduct Integration Testing, System Testing and support Test Readiness Review. Maintain assigned Jira tasks by keeping ticket status, details, effort log and time estimates accurate and regularly updated. Log defects with sufficient detail for effective resolution. Carry out tasks in line with Saab Australia and Australian Defence policies, ensuring protection of classified information and compliance with ITAR and export control requirements. Travel interstate to assist with system deployments, troubleshooting and collaboration with remote teams. Flexible work arrangements such as 9-day fortnight will be considered for this role. About you Your skills and experience will include: Essential Experienced with configuration, management and troubleshooting of IP networks to enable secure and efficient data flow between integrated systems. Familiar with the implementation, deployment, management and configuration of containerized applications using Docker. Ability to deploy, manage and troubleshoot Linux-based virtual machines and network environments. Skilled with the development and maintenance of automation scripts using Bash, Python and Ansible. Apply configuration management principles and use Git to ensure controlled and traceable development of software products. Demonstrate appreciation of agile methodologies and systems engineering practices and apply them appropriately throughout the software development lifecycle. Desirable Familiarity with complex software-intensive systems (e.g., military systems) or related defence technologies is desirable. Experienced with tools and technologies including DDS, IBM DOORS, and the Atlassian tool suite. Skilled in designing and implementing test automation solutions, including the use of test automation frameworks. As a defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants will be required to hold an Australian Defence Security Clearance preferably to NV1 level or have the ability to gain one. Information including past and present nationality and citizenship may be requested to check eligibility for access to materials controlled under various export control regimes, including ITAR.
