In this role, you’ll play a key part in influencing the design and implementation of Apple’s latest features and technologies, ensuring they are optimized for energy efficiency. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to analyze how system services and features consume power and collaborate to make improvements that preserve battery life without compromising performance or user experience. DESCRIPTION As a member of the Software Power Systems team, you’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to optimize battery usage across all layers of the software stack and across multiple Apple platforms. Your work will directly influence how features are designed and implemented to be energy efficient at scale. You’ll also have the opportunity to refine existing APIs or design new ones with power efficiency in mind—enabling developers to build more efficient applications. You’ll also contribute to the development of tools and frameworks to triage power-related issues, and analyze large-scale analytics data to identify trends and hotspots affecting battery life. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Deep understanding of operating systems and software architecture Experience working with many cross-functional teams Ability to independently learn new technologies, prototype and design software solutions PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Excellent debugging skills to tackle challenging problems Excellent spoken and written communication skills Mobile Application Development experience Strong understanding of iOS frameworks/services Strong coding skills, preferably in C/C++/Objective C/SwiftUI
Responsibilities
The engineer will collaborate across teams to optimize battery usage across all software stack layers and Apple platforms, directly influencing feature design for energy efficiency at scale. Responsibilities also include refining APIs, designing new power-efficient ones, developing power triage tools, and analyzing data to identify battery life hotspots.
