About the Role

We are looking for a detail-oriented and technically skilled Software QA Engineer to join our growing technology team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, performance and functionality of our software applications through systematic testing, defect identification and quality assurance processes.

You will work closely with software developers, business analysts, product managers and other stakeholders to identify potential issues, improve testing processes and ensure that software products meet business requirements and user expectations.

This role is ideal for someone with strong analytical skills, a methodical approach to problem-solving and a passion for delivering high-quality software solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, review and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases and test scenarios based on software requirements and technical specifications.
  • Perform manual and automated testing of software applications, including functional, regression, integration, system and user acceptance testing.
  • Identify, document, track and report software defects using appropriate bug-tracking and test management tools.
  • Collaborate with software developers and technical teams to investigate issues, reproduce defects and verify fixes.
  • Design, develop and maintain automated test scripts and testing frameworks where appropriate.
  • Conduct API testing and validate integrations between software systems.
  • Carry out performance, compatibility, usability and reliability testing where required.
  • Review software requirements and specifications to identify ambiguities, risks and potential quality issues at an early stage.
  • Maintain accurate test documentation, test results, defect reports and quality assurance records.
  • Participate in software development lifecycle activities, including requirements analysis, sprint planning, code releases and deployment validation.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of testing methodologies, tools and quality assurance standards.
  • Ensure that software releases meet defined quality criteria before deployment.
  • Support root-cause analysis and recommend corrective and preventive actions to minimise recurring defects.
  • Work collaboratively within Agile or other software development environments to support timely and reliable software delivery.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline, or relevant professional experience.
  • Proven experience in software quality assurance, software testing or a related technical role.
  • Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, test design techniques and defect management processes.
  • Experience preparing and executing test cases, test scripts and test plans.
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycles and quality assurance principles.
  • Familiarity with defect-tracking and test management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps or equivalent platforms.
  • Understanding of web applications, databases, client-server architecture and software integrations.
  • Good analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and communicate software defects clearly.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with automated testing tools and frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright or similar.
  • Knowledge of programming or scripting languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript or C#.
  • Experience with API testing tools such as Postman or similar.
  • Familiarity with SQL and database testing.
  • Understanding of continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Knowledge of performance testing tools and software security testing principles
