Description
The Software QA Engineer will play an important role within the Mechatronics embedded team, ensuring quality and continuous improvement is of paramount importance within the team. You will develop and implement test solutions for our highly successful product solutions within the energy industry. You will have the chance to be creative and have your voice heard. Responsibilities: · Conduct thorough testing of web interfaces and remote embedded hardware devices using both scripted and exploratory testing techniques, to identify defects, usability issues, and performance bottlenecks. · Develop comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts for both new and existing applications. · Execute test cases and document test results, tracking and prioritising defects to resolution. · Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and ensure test coverage has been met. · Identify, isolate, and report defects, effectively communicating issues to the development team. · Perform exploratory testing to discover defects, gain insights into software and hardware behaviour, and assess the user experience. · Perform pragmatic regression testing to ensure existing functionality is not affected by new changes or updates in both software and hardware devices. · Continuously improve the testing process by adopting best practices, exploring new testing tools and methodologies, and sharing knowledge within the team. · Constantly refine and stay current with emerging technologies. · Foster and promote a culture of Testing Excellence across the business through a "Lead-by-Example” mindset. Essential Criteria: · A Minimum of 3+ years Proven Engineering experience testing remote embedded hardware devices at mid-senior level. · A third level qualification in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. (BTEC HND, BSc, BEng) · Experience in creating test plans, test cases, and test scripts for Hardware devices, web and mobile applications. · Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills to identify, isolate and replicate defects. · Proficiency in bug tracking and test management tools (e.g., JIRA, TestRail, Zephyr). · Knowledge of software testing principles, methodologies, and best practices. · Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams. · Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks and priorities effectively. Desirable: · Experience in the energy sector or similar industry. · ISTQB Certification · Experience in the use of laboratory equipment (oscilloscope, logic analyser, signal generators). · Experience working in an Agile environment, Disciplined Agile, Modified Agile for Hardware Devices.
