Reports to: Development Manager
We’re looking for a motivated, self-starting Software Quality Assurance Engineer to be the first internal QA resource at OnTheClock, a growing SaaS company focusing on time tracking, scheduling, and embedded payroll services for small and mid-sized businesses. You’ll play a key role in ensuring product quality across our web and mobile apps, while helping us build out (and take ownership of) and improve our QA processes.
At OnTheClock, we’re rapidly expanding the tools we offer to help small businesses successfully lead their teams. Our ambitious mission is to reach one million users, and we need your expertise to help us achieve it. In this role, you’ll ensure every interaction with our product is seamless, reliable, and delightful while contributing to something big: a platform that empowers businesses, supports their growth, and makes life easier for the people behind them.
You’ll be embedded across multiple agile development teams (internal and external), owning the “QA” phase of each story or ticket, performing manual QA, assisting in regression and release testing, and managing beta test workflows.
This is a high-ownership role ideal for someone who wants to learn and grow, and lead in defining how QA is done at OnTheClock.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 2+ years as a Software QA Engineer (or equivalent role), responsible for manual QA testing and validation within diverse SaaS/Web/Mobile environments
  • Self-starter with a growth mindset and a desire to take ownership and improve processes
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within groups to identify bugs and improvements while providing precise and detailed updates to internal and external teams.
  • Excels when working within an agile team and organization that continues to grow and refine the QA functionality and our processes/systems.

PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Familiarity with tools like Postman, Playwright, and Selenium
  • Experience with project management platforms such as Jira and Asana
  • Experience with SQL queries and backend validation
  • Exposure to load testing tools (e.g., JMeter, Locust)
  • Light scripting or test automation experience
  • Experience testing third-party integrations
  • Experience leveraging AI-powered tools for automated test case generation, bug detection, or exploratory testing.
