POSITION SUMMARY:

Oasys is seeking a Software Quality Assurance Engineer & Tester to support the United States Coast Guard (USCG) at the Aviation Logistics Center (ALC)—Information Systems Division (ISD). The Software Quality Assurance Engineer & Tester will ensure the delivery of secure, defect-free, and compliant software solutions through test strategy development, automation, and integration with DevSecOps pipelines.
The QA Engineer & Tester will work closely with configuration managers, developers, system analysts, and cybersecurity teams to validate the integrity and accuracy of configuration baselines and system releases, ensuring compliance with regulatory and mission requirements.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong knowledge of software testing methodologies, QA best practices, and automated testing tools.
  • Experience working within Agile DevSecOps environments and supporting enterprise application lifecycle QA.
  • Familiarity with CMDB data validation, baseline integrity testing, and configuration item tracking in QA workflows.
  • Understanding of CI/CD concepts and ability to work with teams deploying software in containerized or cloud-based environments.
  • Experience testing in federal environments subject to DHS or DoD security frameworks and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills; ability to communicate test findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Math, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field. Two (2) years of directly relevant experience may substitute for one (1) year of formal education.
  • Minimum of one (1) year in an Agile DevSecOps software and engineering environment and Methodologies.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience with Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience creating testing scripts and automation framework and for cloud-based architectures.
  • Experience supporting software testing and QA for mission-critical systems within DHS or DoD is preferred.
Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and execute comprehensive test plans, test scripts, and automated testing frameworks for systems under configuration control.
  • Perform functional, regression, integration, smoke, and performance testing in support of software releases, version updates, and CM baseline deployments.
  • Collaborate with DevSecOps engineers to integrate automated testing within CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Bitbucket, Jenkins, or GitLab CI.
  • Verify that all software and hardware modifications comply with QA standards, configuration baselines, and ATO requirements.
  • Assist in debugging and troubleshooting software issues; identify root causes and work with developers for resolution tracking.
  • Conduct audits, reviews, and compliance testing in accordance with DHS 4300A, NIST 800-53, and RMF requirements.
  • Participate in Configuration Control Boards (CCBs) and ensure that test evidence aligns with change request documentation.
  • Provide detailed test reports, traceability matrices, and risk-based analysis to support stakeholder decision-making and audit readiness.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of the QA Plan, SOPs, and test case libraries in support of sustained CM lifecycle activities.
  • Track testing activities using Jira; document test results, defects, and quality metrics in Confluence and related repositories.
  • Ensure that testing practices comply with Section 508, accessibility standards, and cybersecurity best practices.
