Description
SAIC is seeking a Software Safety Engineer with an active Secret clearance in Stafford, VA. A successful candidate will work as part of a team and leverage software experience in accomplishing software system safety tasks, typically as part of a larger system safety effort. Candidates will assist with review of client software system safety documents to verify compliance with requirements, policy, and guidance documents and document adequacy. Focus on completing client work in accordance with established plans and quality standards. Candidates will collaborate with government personnel, vendors and the user community to ensure the safety of Marine Corps weapons systems and platforms. Tasks include: System safety analysis of software for US Marines Corps systems and documenting their contribution to risk of the overall system Serve as liaison to System Safety to coordinate development/delivery of technical data in support of Software System Safety Technical Review Panel (SSSTRP) reviews Ensure safety requirements are incorporated into software products through all software life cycle phases including design, code and test to ensure end-to-end traceability in support of formal verification, requiring continuous collaboration with other technical disciplines Ensure software products adequately implement safety-significant functionality per established government standards and regulations (JSSSEH ,MIL-STD 882, etc.) Ensuring safety hazards are captured in a Hazard Tracking System with associated hazard contributors, mitigations and risk assessment codes Perform ongoing functional hazard analyses via assignment of safety attributes to safety-significant functions in a large complex system to ensure adequate Level of Rigor (LOR) is applied throughout all life cycle phases Ensure safety-related trouble reports are tracked, prioritized and resolved in a timely manner Education Requirements: Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or a technical related field and 8 years or more experience; 4 additional years of experience in lieu of degree Qualifications: Experience conducting System Engineering Analysis, System Safety Analysis, Risk Management and/or Hazard Analysis Experience working with US Navy or US Marine Corps combat systems or platforms Experience operating, maintaining, testing, or analyzing weapons systems or complex mechanical or software systems Systems Engineering experience with US Navy or US Marine Corps weapons systems Experience preparing and presenting technical reports and presentations Experience with development of software for weapons systems Knowledgeable of C++, C, MagicDraw Clearance Requirement: Must have an active Secret clearance
