JOB DESCRIPTION

Work in a dynamic environment as part of a team of engineers dedicated to building next generation of AI-enabled geospatial, sensing, and analytics capabilities for the warfighter.
As a solution architect, you will design and guide the integration of multiple third-party vendors with our application to deliver increased automation and functionality. You will work closely with cross-functional roles—Engineering, Product, QA, and DevOps—to ensure our software solutions are scalable, secure, and reliable.
This is a full-time hybrid position located in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS

  1. Technical Expertise
  • Deep understanding of web technologies and frameworks (e.g., JavaScript, TypeScript, React, or Node.js).
  • Proven experience with microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, GraphQL, or other integration patterns.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Strong knowledge of databases (SQL, NoSQL), caching strategies, and high availability solutions.
  1. Integration Experience
  • Demonstrated success integrating multiple third-party services, for example payment gateways, authentication systems, CRM, analytics tools, etc.
  • Experience with API design and management, webhooks, and asynchronous messaging queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.).

Required Soft Skills

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Proven leadership and mentorship abilities, fostering team collaboration and driving engineering best practices.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in software development, with at least 3 years in an architect or technical lead role.
Responsibilities
  • Provide architectural leadership, defining the overall architecture for distributed applications, including front-end frameworks, back-end services, APIs, and data management.
  • Establish best practices, design patterns, and frameworks to ensure highly resilient and maintainable software solutions.
  • Liaise with third-party vendors and evaluate their solutions to determine compatibility, integration requirements, and impacts on current systems.
  • Develop integration strategies and oversee the technical design and implementation of integrations with diverse third-party services and vendors.
  • Ensure solutions implement security best practices and compliance with the NIST Risk Management Framework and standards such as NIST-800 53.
  • Produce clear, comprehensive documentation for architectural designs, integration plans, and technical roadmaps.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, tech leads to ensure architectural decisions align with business requirements and timelines.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership and mentorship to developers, promoting a high-performance engineering culture.
  • Communicate technical decisions and trade-offs effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
