Description
Overview The Software Support Specialist provides technical expertise in maintaining, supporting, and enhancing CCQDER software systems and applications. This role ensures all applications operate effectively, comply with federal data security requirements, and align with CDC/NCHS architectural and development standards. ---------------------------------------- Key Responsibilities   Application Support & Maintenance * Maintain and support CCQDER lab operations systems and applications, including troubleshooting, documentation, and user orientation. * Collaborate with CCQDER staff to ensure smooth operation and user understanding of software tools. Data & Regulatory Compliance * Ensure all software applications meet requirements for secure data collection, analysis, and handling, including compliance with laws such as CIPSEA. System Requirements, Architecture & Development Support * Work with CCQDER staff, CDC OCIO, Infrastructure Services Branch (ISB), and NCHS Office of Informatics to define and analyze requirements for system enhancements and new application development. * Provide recommendations on architecture, design alternatives, and best‑practice approaches for application development. System Authorization & Accessibility Compliance * Complete required System Assessment & Authorization (SA&A) documentation for new, modified, and renewal systems, and support obtaining Authorization to Operate (ATO). * Complete and submit Section 508 compliance documentation and obtain CDC/NCHS approvals for all relevant software applications. Optional Task: Software Acquisition * Acquire Qualtrics or another approved Commercial Off‑the‑Shelf (COTS) application if no existing NCHS‑approved solution is available.   Qualifications: * Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field desired * 5-8 years of experience.
