GeoSpectrum Technologies Inc. is growing and has a new career opportunity!
We’re looking for a detail-oriented and creative communicator to join our team as a Software Technical Writer. In this role, you’ll transform complex technical concepts into clear, user-friendly documentation that supports our software products. You’ll develop and maintain interactive manuals, tutorials, and training materials, collaborate with subject matter experts, and ensure all content aligns with internal standards like S1000D. Your work will help users navigate our software with confidence, while keeping pace with product updates and design changes.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3 years of experience in technical writing for software products.
  • Exceptional clarity and precision in writing, with a strong command of the English language.
  • Ability to understand and communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word.
  • Comfortable working independently and managing multiple documentation projects simultaneously.
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn about GTI products, and openness to new tools and technologies.
  • Familiarity with S1000D specification is desired.
  • Experience in creating Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals.
  • Experience with XML-based authoring tools.
  • Awareness of Simplified Technical English.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and software development, and release life cycles
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with remote teams.
  • Background in software development or engineering.

SECURITY REQUIREMENTS

All candidates must be eligible to apply for and maintain Canadian Controlled Goods and assigned Canadian Government Security Clearance.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain user-facing documentation for software products
  • Create and update Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs) and Software Version Description Documents
  • Incorporate graphics into written content to increase user’s understanding
  • Write tutorials, quick-start guides, and training materials aligned with software releases.
  • Interview subject matter experts and translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise content.
  • Maintain consistency with internal style guides and documentation standards and specifications (such as S1000D)
  • Support other writing assignments such as program documentation, technical reports, and internal documents
  • Follow internal company procedures for publications development and document control
  • Represent the technical publications team at software product meetings and design reviews, as required
