About the role

A hands-on software testing role combining verification, automation, deployment and operational customer support. You will help keep mission-critical software running reliably while improving how we test, deploy and support it.

Acacia Systems develops complex software-intensive systems for demanding operational environments. This is not a traditional documentation-only Test & Evaluation position. The work is hands-on: testing real-time mission-critical software, supporting deployments, maintaining test environments, investigating customer-reported issues and automating repetitive activities. You will work closely with experienced software engineers, including specialists performing deeper analysis of our underwater acoustics tracking.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, perform and document software verification and validation activities
• Monitor supported operational software and liaise with the customers operating the system
• Develop Python scripts to improve testing and deployment
• Build and maintain automated test activities within CI/CD pipelines, including Jenkins or similar tooling
• Set up and maintain virtual software-in-the-loop (SIL) test environments
• Write and test system requirements
• Produce clear test procedures, records and reports appropriate to customer and project needs
• Work with software and systems engineers to improve product quality and test effectiveness

About you

• Experience in software testing, integration, support and DevOps
• Experienced working in Linux
• Experienced in Python
• Able to investigate technical problems
• Australian citizenship and eligibility to obtain an Australian Government security clearance is required
• Experience with Jenkins, Git, containers, virtual machines (useful, but not essential)
• Experience creating SIL, simulation or integration test environments (useful, but not essential)
• Exposure to C++ (useful, but not essential)
• Experience in Defence (useful, but not essential)
