Description

Candidates - Please note due to our policy of regional employment your application will auto reject if your Indeed location is not already in a commutable distance to Stoke or does not show a location. We are not supporting any relocation or remote work in this role.
Recruiters, no matter how “different” you are, we’re not entertaining recruitment agencies for this role.
This is an exciting time for Rubixx as we relocate to Stoke on Trent following our purchase of a new HQ. We’ve been holding back on recruitment for a while so you’ll be joining at the same time 9 other roles we’re filling. Nice to know you won’t be the only newbie! The new offices are undergoing renovation, so you’ll need to excuse our dust for a while, while we make it Staffordshire’s best workplace!
As a Software Tester, you will be responsible for testing our software releases, identifying defects, and ensuring all issues are addressed before each release cycle. This will be both planned enhancements, bug fixes and system wide tests.
Your attention to detail and meticulous nature will help ensure that we deliver bug-free, reliable software to our users. You will collaborate closely with development and support teams, learn the product extensively, and ensure that all aspects of the product function correctly and meet user requirements.
We are currently manually testing and unit testing and this role will need to bring a new automated testing framework to the business which is a fantastic opportunity for anyone wanting to build an exceptionally robust and well managed process in from scratch. You won’t be inheriting someone else’s work.

Responsibilities?

  • Product Knowledge: Develop an in-depth understanding of our product and its features to effectively test and validate software functionality.
  • Test Planning: Work with the professional services team to learn functions, plan and design test cases, ensuring coverage of all user stories, features, and requirements.
  • Manual Testing: Execute manual tests across all areas of the software to identify defects or inconsistencies.
  • Automation Testing: If applicable, assist in creating or executing automated tests to increase testing efficiency and coverage. Some of these tools are complex so you need to be highly IT literate.
  • Defect Reporting: Identify, document, and track software defects, providing clear steps to reproduce and ensuring timely resolution.
  • Regression Testing: Perform thorough regression testing to ensure that new code changes don’t impact existing features.
  • Test Documentation: Maintain detailed test logs, reports, and documentation for each testing cycle to track progress and results.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with developers and product managers to resolve issues, clarify requirements, and ensure alignment with business goals.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that the software meets the highest quality standards before every release cycle, which occurs every 8 weeks.
  • Continuous Improvement: Proactively suggest improvements to testing processes and tools, helping to enhance overall testing efficiency.
  • Release Support: Support the final stages of software releases by validating fixes, running final test rounds, and ensuring readiness for production.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven experience in software testing (manual and/or automation).
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify even the smallest issues.
  • Experience with testing methodologies and software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with issue tracking tools (e.g., Devops).
  • Ability to learn complex software applications and understand the underlying business logic.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with technical teams.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) is a plus.
  • Experience with test automation tools is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A passion for quality assurance and ensuring product excellence.
The application process includes a practical test so if you’ve just heard of those things and aren’t proficient in them, maybe this isn’t for you. You can’t just google your way into post.
Rubixx focuses on developing our employees and teaching skills and experience to help them move up to deliver more value over time to encourage promotion (and delicious pay rises)
Due to the need to communicate and liaise with various parts of the business this role is not eligible for hybrid or home working.
What are we like as an employer? Well, we’re probably a bit like you, a bit different from the norm. That’s a good thing in our eyes, who wants to be the same as everyone else, how very dull that would be!
What will you get from us? Well, we have a modern fun workplace, a fantastic customer base who love our products and a tight-knit team who look after each other and all grow together. We’re all different with different strengths and areas for growth. There are no egos, politics or judgements.
We have flexitime, parking, a relaxed atmosphere, an involved and engaged management team, a modern comfortable workplace with as much tea coffee and hot chocolate as you can drink . Our offices have their own private lounge bar for relaxing with a brew and a licensed bar which we sometimes open after work. We have our own squash court, gym, spinning studio and table tennis setup which you are welcome to use before or after work or on your break.
We have an active (and slightly over competitive) social programme of bowling, karting, quizzing and pool.
How will you show us you can fit into our squad of broken robots? We don’t mind. Most people send a CV, which is fine, we’d love to see it or just find a way to show us your talent and stand out from the crowd.
We’ll be shortlisting and interviewing and be aware that the interview will involve a presentation and practical assessment, to make sure nobody has… erm.. exaggerated some of their skills.
