    About Rivian
Rivian is on a mission to keep the world adventurous forever. This goes for the emissions-free Electric Adventure Vehicles we build, and the curious, courageous souls we seek to attract.
As a company, we constantly challenge what’s possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. We reframe old problems, seek new solutions and operate comfortably in areas that are unknown. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.
    Role Summary
The Software Test & Integration Engineer at Rivian Volkswagen Technologies Group is responsible for designing and documenting comprehensive test cases, collaborating closely with embedded software and systems engineers, and validating battery and energy management systems using advanced testing environments and vehicle-level assets. The role focuses on ensuring the performance, reliability, and safety of next-generation electrical architecture for electric vehicles through rigorous diagnostics, calibration, and integration work.

Responsibilities

  • Design and document comprehensive test cases for sub-system, system and vehicle battery and energy management systems from software requirements.
  • Collaborate with embedded software and systems engineers to diagnose and resolve integration issues.
  • Track the maturity of features through exhaustive test coverage, including Software-in-the-Loop (SIL), Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL), and vehicle-level test assets.
  • Analyze diagnostics and telemetry data from embedded communication systems (such as CAN, LIN, and Ethernet), and leverage vehicle/cloud data for validation and root-cause analysis.
  • Test, validate and help calibrate battery and energy management features, including one or more of charge/discharge controls, cell balancing, state-of-charge/state-of-health algorithms, power distribution, and safety systems to meet vehicle attribute targets (performance, range, reliability, safety, etc.).
  • Plan and coordinate use of test assets, test plans and temperature chamber usage to characterize and validate energy storage software and hardware functionality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent engineering or sciences.
  • 2+ years’ experience working with control systems, battery management, or energy storage in automotive, aerospace, or related industries.
  • Proficient in developing automated test cases for SIL, and/or HIL testing environments (experience with Pytest, OpenHTF, or similar).
  • Hands-on experience in embedded software integration, calibration, hardware/software debugging.
  • Experience with communication bus monitoring/analyzing tools (Vector CANalyzer, vehicle or bench-level debug tools, etc.).
  • Experience with calibration and diagnostics tools (Vector CANape, INCA, or similar).
  • Familiarity with the fundamentals of battery operation (lithium-ion cells, modules & packs, thermal management, power electronics, state estimation algorithms).
  • Familiarity with the energy storage and distribution hardware such as battery packs, DC/DC converters, fuses, power distribution, and battery sensors.
