We are hiring for Software Verification Engineers as part of the Software Systems Capability function.
The Software Verification Engineer shall develop and review software test scripts, assess formal results and perform oversight on supplier developed scripts as required by the scope of the program in work.
The Software Verification activities may involve but are not limited to Module Testing, Requirement Based Integration Testing and Hardware-in-the-loop Integration Testing utilising a variety of bespoke and COTS testing applications. Please note: Candidates will need experience with ES37 OR CUTE.
The Software Verification Engineer is responsible for the on-time delivery and quality of the software artefacts (including issue reporting) associated with verification the software system. This shall be achieved through the development of test cases that verify whether all outputs of the Software Design Process fully satisfy their parent requirements.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Review and agree high level software requirements meet testability objectives.
  • Review and agree low level software requirements meet testability objectives.
  • Agree allocation of software requirements to test vehicles
  • Produce/Review the verification plan in accordance with agreed allocation.
  • Develop/Review software test scripts that will provide evidence to demonstrate whether the software high/low level requirements have been satisfied.
  • Analyse verification test results for correctness of operation against software high/low requirements.
  • Provides targeted testing of software level functionality to support problem investigation and problem closures and customer issues.
  • May be required to provide coaching on the Rolls-Royce Verification Process, Tools and/or Standards to new engineers where necessary.

KEY EXPERIENCES AND ANY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated knowledge of software engineering, primarily in software verification at module, Software Integration and black box HIL level.
  • Experience of ES37 and CUTE.
  • An ability to interpret test results and provide an informed opinion or conclusion as to the outcome of the analysis. This includes an understanding of measurement uncertainty.
  • An ability to identify and manage risk in collaboration with team members.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
  • Strong problem solving skills, and an ability to understand the level of analysis required
  • Good time management skills able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Dynamically respond to evolving objectives and emerging opportunities while working in coordination with a multidisciplinary, energetic team of engineers and scientists.
  • Good written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, able to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.
