JOB DESCRIPTION
Professional Services Firm seeking to fill a full-time Laboratory Technician Aide position in its accredited Materials Testing Lab. This position is ideal for those looking for an entry point to a stable career path with significant growth options. As a Lab Technician Aide you will be testing construction materials to ensure compliance with material requirements. This role is critical throughout the construction process of roads, bridges, structures, and utility projects. Laboratory Technician Aides should take pride in being self-sufficient while also being capable team players who can share tasks and work together when required. This position is supervised and trained by the Lab Manager. While tasks vary throughout the day, you would primarily be responsible for:
- Inspecting, testing, and classification of aggregate, concrete, and soils per AASHTO, ASTM, and FDOT.
- Tracking and entering samples into their appropriate database.
- Performing standard tests including gradations, maximum densities, LBR’s, Atterberg Limits, organic content, and concrete strength.
- Performing simple calculations and result analysis.
- Effectively communicating and sharing test results with contractors, project managers, engineers, and FDOT personnel.
Job Requirements:
- High School graduate
- Valid Florida Driver’s License with a clear driving record and able to drive up to 1.5 hours
- Ability to move soil samples and lab supplies around lab (samples weigh up to 50 pounds)
- Ability to safely operate equipment, ovens, and handle hot material
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint) and ability to spend time on laptop entering data and identifying colored flags
