REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR CONSIDERATION ARE…

  • A BSc /MSc in chemistry or other relevant disciplines.
  • A minimum of 5 years of industry experience accompanied by progressive responsibility/authority in a commercial laboratory.
  • Extensive experience in analytical science
  • Experience managing a large team, with strong people, change management and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong leadership skills and excellent interpersonal and emotional intelligence.
  • Able to work to deadlines and adapt to changing conditions and ambiguity generating effective and pragmatic solutions to new situations and problems as they are presented.
  • As a key participant in business development within the company, the candidate should be familiar with market/opportunities available to the Soil Laboratory.
  • In dept knowledge of ISO 17025
  • Proven ability to develop appropriately aggressive milestones and consistently achieve targets.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s (preferred)

Experience:

  • lab manager: 5 years (preferred)
Responsibilities
  • Quality – maintaining ISO 17025 and extending the scope of accreditation as required
  • Checking QC data from instruments and observing trends
  • Review of results and reporting to the customer
  • Training of staff and insuring on going competency is maintained for all staff
  • Maintenance of instruments within the Soil Laboratory and troubleshooting with analyst to resolve issues
  • Arranging annual internal verifications and calibrations
  • Supervising staff in all sections of the soil lab
  • Ensuring that Client relationship / customer care is a priority
  • Validation of new methods and instruments as required
  • Reporting to the QM and other Management and preparation of Management reports
  • Participation in INAB audit preparation / INAB audits
  • Preparation / participating in the preparation of Tender/proposals relevant to the soil laboratory
  • Participation in audits/quality checks of the soil laboratory carried out by clients
  • Preparation of quality reports and other performance reports as requested by clients
  • Attendance of meetings off site when required
    · Implementing/Testing and validation of ongoing automation of the soil laboratory
    · LIMS development and Maintenance
