QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4-year degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent field
  • 3+ years’ experience in the solar PV industry, including project design
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Working knowledge of National Electrical Code, photovoltaic systems and construction practices
  • NABCEP PVIP certification or ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire
  • Current P.E. or ability to obtain P.E. certification a plus

Responsibilities

THE ROLE

We are currently seeking a Solar Design and Engineering Manager who has the skills, experience, and credentials to lead a close-knit team out of our Maryland office. The right candidate for this role will be able to embrace change and emerging technologies to lead the continued growth and evolution of the department.

The successful candidate will be:

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the design and engineering team that is responsible for creating preliminary solar designs, performing site surveys, and completing design packages for construction.
  • Complete the initial system design for PV systems, experience with Eagle View and Aurora is preferred.
  • Provide guidance to ensure all required site information is obtained, via on-site survey process or remote technology.
  • Complete system designs for roof and ground mounted PV, as well as energy storage systems. Including site plans, mechanical racking and attachment plans, single-line electrical drawings, interconnection details, and labeling.
  • Perform project calculations, component sizing, and overall electrical design for residential solar PV systems.
  • Ensure projects comply with building codes, AHJ requirements, engineering best practices, safety codes, regulatory codes, and NEC standards.
  • Manage external engineering firm(s) responsible for producing engineering deliverables.
  • Maintain current knowledge of new technologies and contribute to the evaluation of product offerings.
