Tower Engineering Professionals is seeking a full-time Solar Engineer. The Solar Engineer is responsible for all electrical and solar installation projects. Will work with permitting offices and electrical inspectors and will be responsible for completing electrical work in a code-compliant manner. Solar Engineer will also install all photovoltaic system components and electrical equipment, ensure successful operation of complete photovoltaic systems, and communicate project status with project managers and construction managers.
As an Electrical Engineer, you will serve as an integral member of our electrical team in our Civil Department. SUMMARY:

Professional Engineering (PE) license is required. The applicant must have passed the Power version of the Principals and Practice of Engineering Exam (PE) or other test version that allows the applicant to be considered an Electrical Engineer. Position requires thorough knowledge of electrical design and engineering techniques. Responsible for planning and conducting independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria. Devise new approaches to problems, prepare or modify drawings, monitor work compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices and TEP standards.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 4–7 years of experience in electrical design, project engineering, or field engineering
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (required); experience with Revit, ETAP, SKM Power Tools is a plus
  • Familiarity with PVsyst and other PV modeling software
  • Experience with microprocessor-based protection relays (SEL or similar)
  • Strong understanding of low, medium, and high-voltage systems
  • Working knowledge of SCADA, PLCs, and automation systems is a plus
  • Deep knowledge of NEC, IEEE, NFPA, and related codes
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, team-focused environment
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or working toward licensure is a plus but not required
Responsibilities
  • Develop, review, and revise electrical system designs using AutoCAD and other industry-standard software
  • Create and update one-line and three-line diagrams
  • Conduct power distribution analysis and recommend appropriate equipment selections
  • Design low and medium voltage systems compliant with utility interconnection requirements
  • Design and implement battery energy storage systems (BESS)
  • Commission systems and conduct ASTM capacity/performance testing
  • Work directly with clients and system owners to understand project needs and optimize design
  • Ensure all designs meet applicable safety codes and industry standards (NEC, IEEE, NFPA, NESC)
