QUALIFICATION:

  • Post-secondary in Mechanical Engineering field or Engineering Technologist diploma
  • Strong program management and leadership experience
  • Strong attention to detail is a must.
  • 1-3 years’ experience in manufacturing or design is an asset
  • Coding experience is an asset
  • Strong computer skills, advanced Excel skills
  • Understanding of BOM, cost structures and labor routings
  • Knowledge of injection molding, wire/cable processing, crimping, machining, casting, and plating is an asset
  • Proficient in AutoCAD/DraftSight and Solid Works.
  • Awareness of AIAG Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC).
  • Must be able to travel (US/Mexico)

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are looking for a Solar Project Engineer to join our growing team! Reporting directly to the Solar Product Manager, you will be responsible for costing, technical support, and production implementation of standard and ‘build to print’ solar (PV) products and harness assemblies for the centralized PV systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for completing manufacturing feasibility analysis, cost analysis, and quotations for new programs on a timely basis.
  • Lead or support the design, prototyping, test, and validation of new solar products to comply with internal standards and external compliance requirements.
  • Ability to read site blueprints and design/configure optimal PV (solar) harness layouts.
  • Optimize designs based on cost, efficiency, and easy of deployment.
  • Outline tasks and timing on projects, ensure projects remain on track.
  • Participate in cross-functional team activities and meetings as required and assigned. Participate in production planning and sales pipeline meetings.
  • Maintain the integrity of the departmental quality requirements and continuous improvement activities through effective day-to-day implementation of procedures.
  • Coordinate prototyping and testing of new project products in conjunction with the customer.
  • Assist with tool and fixture design for production assembly.
  • Troubleshoot production line issues and quality issues as required.
