ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re looking for a committed and enthusiastic lawyer with a commercial background, in the early stage of their legal career, to join the Commercial, Property & Technology Branch. If you have an interest in applying commercial law within a government context - working on matters that serve government and public sector clients- this could be the opportunity for you.
Here, you won’t just be part of a team, you’ll be empowered to build your own practice, foster meaningful client relationships, and sharpen your skills through hands-on experience. You’ll be delivering practical, strategic legal advice on matters that are as diverse as they are interesting.
Working in a government context means you’ll tackle unique and rewarding challenges, with opportunities to branch out beyond commercial law into technology, property, and native title. It’s a chance to grow, explore, and make a real impact.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage your own matters from start to finish (with appropriate supervision) and develop your own client relationships
  • Provide high quality commercial legal advice to government on complex and challenging legal issues (through a mix of advice and transactional work)
  • Work on broad, diverse projects supporting and involving commercial, technology, IP, property and native title teams
  • Contribute to valuable knowledge management and business development projects
