Description

Job OverviewWe are seeking an exceptionally skilled FEA Analyst / Draftsperson to join our engineering team. This is a hands-on SolidWorks role — the successful candidate must be more than “familiar” with SolidWorks; they must be an expert-level user capable of owning all 3D modeling, drafting, and finite element analysis (FEA) for our products. This individual will collaborate closely with engineers and fabricators to ensure every design is optimized for strength, manufacturability, and compliance with customer requirements.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Expert-level SolidWorks proficiency — including modeling, assemblies, sheet metal, weldments, and drawing creation.
  • Proven experience conducting FEA within SolidWorks Simulation (stress, thermal, modal, fatigue).
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, load paths, and material behavior.
  • Ability to prepare clear technical reports summarizing FEA methodology, assumptions, and results.
  • Familiarity with industry standards for structural and mechanical design.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Strong communication skills for cross-team collaboration.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior experience in steel structures, heavy fabrication, or defense-related projects.
  • Knowledge of additional CAD tools (AutoCAD, Inventor, CATIA, etc.) is a plus, but SolidWorks mastery is non-negotiable.
  • Experience interfacing with government or aerospace/defense customers.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting/Design, or equivalent technical background.

Responsibilities
  • Create highly detailed 3D models and 2D drawings in SolidWorks to support product design, fabrication, and testing.
  • Perform finite element analysis (FEA) within SolidWorks to validate designs under static, dynamic, and fatigue loading.
  • Generate detailed technical drawings, weldments, assemblies, and BOMs directly from SolidWorks.
  • Own the FEA validation process for all new and modified products, providing stress reports and compliance documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and fabrication teams to refine designs for manufacturability and cost efficiency.
  • Maintain revision control and documentation for all drawings, models, and FEA results.
  • Support rapid prototyping and design iterations based on customer or project requirements.
  • Assist with testing and evaluation of fabricated components to correlate with FEA predictions.
